Notes

For those who are inspired, the motivation to act is deeply personal. They are less likely to be swayed by incentives.

If they didn’t achieve their desired outcome, they understood it was because of a decision they made at the start of the process.

Real innovation changes the course of industries or even society.

Loyalty is when people are willing to turn down a better product or a better price to continue doing business with you…people don’t buy WHAT you do, they buy WHY you do it… It is the cause that is represented by the company, brand, product or person that inspires loyalty…Products with a clear sense of WHY give people a way to tell the outside world who they are and what they believe.

For values or guiding principles to be truly effective they have to be verbs.

Authenticity is when you say and do the things you actually believe.

Happy employees ensure happy customers…And happy customers ensure happy shareholders—in that order.

Great companies don’t hire skilled people and motivate them, they hire already motivated people and inspire them. People are either motivated or they are not.

All leaders must have two things: they must have a vision of the world that does not exist and they must have the ability to communicate it.
